The music the great composers left behind can be performed anywhere, but it is particularly in the fields of sculpture and architecture that masters left a lasting mark on Dijon.Today, Dijon is a cosmopolitan city, with universities in the center and industrial plants on the outskirts. Traffic is restricted in the center of the city, so many parts of central Dijon are quiet and relaxing. While perhaps not an ideal city for a whole holiday, it’s definitely worth a day trip.

You'll enjoy staying in the shade of this place, at a coffee shop, during a hot afternoon. The Saint Marie de la Seds Cathedral is near Place Puget. Built in the 11th century, it has never been finished, but widened in 1738. There are numerous paintings of the18th Century.Beautiful beaches may be found in the small towns around Toulon.

In the nearby Place du Marche, there is a flea market every weekend. The area surrounding the Citadelle, Terra Nova neighbourhood, is one of the most colourful parts of town. Just take time to wonder around its restored houses and mansions. Stroll around the Palace of the Governors once grand gardens, Jardin Romieu, from where you can enjoy a view of the Vieux Port, the Old Port. The Vieux Port is a wonderful part of the city, with tall, faded buildings surrounding a marina with posh yachts. Corsica’s most successful commercial town is a lively and charming place with a wonderful port, interesting architecture, good restaurants and many cultural events. Bastia is much more than sun and sand.

Over the centuries, people have carefully built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. Part of its charm is the lack of visible corporate development. Paths, trains and boats connect the villages, and cars cannot reach them from the outside. The Cinque Terre area is a very popular tourist destination. The villages of the Cinque Terre were severely affected by torrential rains which caused floods and mudslides on October 25, 2011. Nine people were confirmed killed by the floods, and damage to the villages, particularly Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare, was extensive
